Maldivian authorities have nabbed multiple foreigners involved in prostitution in the country.
In a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), Maldives Immigration said that a total of nine expatriates were arrested for being involved in a wide prostitution ring, in a joint operation with Maldives Police Service.
They are six Vietnamese women, a Ugandan woman and two Bangladeshi men, who were the women's agents.
Immigration said the matter was investigated and three of the seven women have since been deported while the rest are in the process of being deported as well.
Authorities have previously arrested and deported several foreigners involved in prostitution as well as other criminal activities.
Since the current administration took power, Immigration operations have resulted in over 5,000 expatriates being deported.
