Maldives' Transport Ministry retracted and cancelled a previous announcement banning the operation of vehicles in Malé during the afternoon hours of Monday.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the ministry said the vehicle ban in Malé City on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr was cancelled. However, the announcement came one hour into the ban, with no explanation why the decision was reversed.
As the reversal came into effect, multiple Eid celebrations were taking place in the capital city, including the activities of the "Eid Evening" organised by MNDF and state owned enterprises. These activities were held from Sultan Park to the Islamic Centre, Jumhooree Maidhaan and the Izzuddin Jetty area.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu also attended the activities in the area.
