Thirty seven applicants who passed the criteria has been selected to undergo IVF and IUI treatments sponsored by the government. NSPA stated that the window for applications has been extended until the end of July which was also accept reapplications.
Of 153 people who applied for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) treatments sponsored by the State through the Aasandha Insurance Scheme during the initial application window, thirty seven eligible candidates has been selected to undergo the first round of treatments.
In compliance with the administration's pledge to sponsor treatments for women who are unable to conceive naturally, the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) which manages all health insurance schemes of the State had earlier extended the window to request the State's aid for IVF and IUI treatments through Aasandha.
This pledge which was included in the current administration’s 100-day roadmap was executed on March 15.
An announcement published by NSPA today stated that 135 people had applied for sponsored treatments during the extended timeframe, of which 37 had passed the criteria. The agency assured that arrangements have been made to facilitate treatment for all 37 eligible applicants of the first round.
The agency has also decided to share information and plans concerning the progression of treatments to the recipients before July 30.
NSPA further highlighted that the application deadline has been extended until the end of July for those who had failed to submit all essential documents during the initial submission window as well as new applicants seeking the treatments for the first time.
They added that applicants whose situations have changed since deemed ineligible may also submit forms and documents reapplying for the treatments during the extended window.
NSPA explained that this year, financial assistance for undergoing IVF and IUI treatments will be provided to 100 eligible couple who accumulate the highest number of points. Within the conditions for points distribution, marital duration, age, number of existing children, housing situation and income range will also be considered.
NSPA stated that the IVF and IUI treatment will be undergone in foreign and local hospitals that are included within the Aasandha insurance scheme.
