As per the academic calendar, first term holidays will fall on July 24, with the second term is scheduled to start on August 10.
The academic year will conclude on December 28.
Although previously in Maldives academic years always commenced in January, this was changed with the extension of a term during the Covid 19 pandemic, which led the academic year to begin in August in 2021.
With this change, the annual school holidays fell in June/July. This gave rise to complaints from parents about the difficulties in traveling due to holidays as this time was within the rainy days of northeast monsoon.
Addressing these concerns, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced that the academic year will be reverted back to starting in January from 2026 onwards.
The annual school holidays this year will be from December 28 to January 27. The Education Ministry has previously announced that the annual holidays next year will be within the month of December.
