Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO) has introduced "Door Step Plus" to allow easy registration for waste collection services.
WAMCO said in a statement that the household registration policy was changed in September last year to strengthen waste collection services provided by the corporation across the country. With this change, waste collection services are set to be registered under the name of the house owner.
However, some customers have lodged complaints, regarding difficulties registering for services due to this change, WAMCO said.
"A large number of households have been identified as "not registered with WAMCO" due to reasons including the lack of cooperation from building owners, or them living away from the island hindering the registration process," WAMCO said in a statement.
The "Door Step Plus" service will be available from WAMCO's website to allow such customers to apply for WAMCO services in a convenient manner.
The service will be provided after paying a deposit and registering for waste collection services.
- ID card or passport of the person who wants to register for the service
- Three months waste collection service fee (non-refundable fee)
- Administrative fee of MVR 50
WAMCO said that if the owner of the building requests to change the waste collection service to his own name, the accounts of individuals residing in the building will be canceled.
For further clarifications, the corporation has requested to contact their call center on 1666.
