Cafe' altercation: Bangladeshi in ICU, Nepali on 5 days remand

The Nepali chef who was involved in an altercation in a cafe' last Tuesday has been arrested and placed in remand in custody for a period of five days.

The Nepali chef who was involved in an altercation in a cafe' last Tuesday has been arrested and placed in remand in custody for a period of five days.

The incident, on last Tuesday, occurred when a fight broke out between a Nepali chef and a Bangladeshi staff member of Cafe' Thaseer 1 on Maaveyo Magu. Sharp weapons were used, with both left injured.

Police said that the 24 year old Nepali man has been arrested under a court order. When presented in court for his remand hearing, he was placed in custody for five days.

While the Nepali man has been taken into custody after having received treatment for his injuries, the Bangladeshi man is in more serious condition. He is still being treated in the Intensive Care Unit at IGMH, Police confirmed.

The cause of the altercation remains unclear as of yet.
