President Dr Mohamed Muizzu last night inaugurated the reopening of the newly renovated Centre for Higher Secondary Education in Male'.
Although the official opening was held last night, the school has been holding classes since September.
In last night's ceremony, CHSE presented a memorial frame of its past and present to the President.
In August last year, use of the CHSE building located behind Aminiya School had been discontinued, with the school shifting to premises in Hulhumale'.
However, Education Ministry later decided to renovate and begin use of the building in Male' as well, as the lack of a government run higher secondary education centre in Male' posed inconvenience to many students and parents.
Male' CHSE currently has over 400 students enrolled.
Principal of Male' CHSE Abdulla Didi said that the reopening of the school demonstrates that the President took into consideration the concerns of students and parents.
Currently, the government offers higher secondary education at both the Male' and Hulhumale' branches of CHSE.
