Anatoly, who was targeted by opposing team supporters during a football match has left the country. A source close to him shared that the player had not felt safe following the attempts to assault him at the match.
A source close to the Victory Sport Club’s forward player, Anatoly Vlasichev has revealed that the player was in a state of agitation after Kuda Henveyru Sports Club supporters stormed the football field and began targeting him.
In the quarter final match of the Second Division, Kuda Henveyru supporters had stormed the field and attempted to harm the Victory forward. This dispute ensued after the referee had allegedly failed to issue an appropriate penalty to Anatoly who had deliberately kicked a Kuda Henveyru player in response to a foul against him.
The supporters had proceeded to chase Anatoly and attempted to attack him. They had continued their efforts to land a blow on him even after he jumped outside the stadium compound over the advertisement board. The match could not proceed due to the altercations and was cancelled.
A source close to Anatoly shared with Mihaaru News that he had felt endangered following the attempted assault.
“At which point he decided to immediately depart from Maldives. He had texted the team coach and also said he can’t do it anymore. He had not felt that he was safe,” the source who wishes to remain anonymous told Mihaaru.
“The videos also make it evident that they had attempted to target Tony (Anatoly). Anyone would be unsettled after such a situation.”
The source stated that Anatoly held deliberations with the Victory management to stay on the team after he was notified that he couldn’t play anymore. However, he decided to leave in the end, the source said.
Anatoly was also removed from the substitute players list during the play-offs against New Radiant last Monday.
“He had left the country at that time.” The source said, explaining why Anatoly was not spotted at the stadium nor as a substitute player during the match against New Radiant.
With their securement of a spot within the First Division following their triumph against New Radiant, Victory had taken a group photo displaying the Number 6 jersey that was worn by Anatoly.
Nevertheless, the team had not commented on the struggles faced by Anatoly following the attempted assault during their statement addressing the altercation yesterday.
Their statement had however, affirmed that none of the Victory team members nor an official had faced strains as a result of any members or officials of the Kuda Henveyru team.
“We are releasing this statement to reveal the truth behind the rumors that the Kuda Henveyru [team] official, Ibrahim Aleef Rauf had stormed the compound and assaulted Victory Sport Club team,” the statement said.
Anatoly Vlasichev, native to Kyrgyzstan has previously played in Maldives’ First Division as well.
