At the age of 65, BML's Deputy CEO Aishath Nooraddin, who has been with the bank since its inception, has decided to leave the bank.

She announced her decision via a company wide email sent to the employees of BML today, detailing that her last day at the bank would be 7th November, 2024.

Aishath, who is among the three BML employees who have served at the bank for over 40 years, also said in the email that this would be her last message to them in her role at the bank. However, BML will always hold a special place in her heart, she added.

She also mentioned that her work at the bank came with its own challenges.

"At the same time, I have witnessed the professional successes and happy moments of many of your personal lives. I have also been inspired by every one of your stories," she wrote in her email.

Having joined the bank at the age of 23, Aishath described every significant and happy moment of BML's development and success as very dear to her.

"As someone who has witnessed the bank's best successes and worst losses, one advice I would offer to you all is to remain steadfast in your values and morals, and to be kind to one another," she wrote in the email.

"As loyal employees of the bank, you have always been the biggest priority. I have no doubt that this will continue and that the bank will continue to develop, face challenges and celebrate successes in the years to come," she also added.

Although 7th November will be Aishath's last day at work, she plans to participate in the bank's anniversary event to be held that night.

Throughout her tenure at BML, Aishath has also served at the bank's board, from 31st August 2020 to 25th August 2024.

Aishath is a strong leader: CEO Shareef

BML's newly appointed CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef officially informed the bank's employees of Aishath's resignation.

In his email, Shareef said Aishath is a strong leader who wisely and thoughtfully formulated strategies to help BML succeed in its most successful as well as challenging days.

"Aishath has worked very hard on the board and management. She is also the founder behind the award-winning international banking business," he wrote.

He also said that Aishath gave him, and BML employees valuable guidance and good advice, adding that she is someone he respects.

"[She] is someone who has helped us in many ways. I am very proud to have had the opportunity to work with Aishath. I am sure she will always have a special place in the hearts of all employees," Shareef also wrote.
