Shaffan and Munsif beat Iran pair and rise to next round

Maldives' Shaffan Ismail and Moosa Munsif Ahmed have gone on to the next round through defeating the pair from Iran that they faced off against in the Doubles tournament of the Asian Championship.

Maldives' Shaffan Ismail and Moosa Munsif Ahmed have gone on to the next round through defeating the pair from Iran that they faced off against in the Doubles tournament of the Asian Championship.

Shaffan and Munsif played against Benyamin Faraji, 14, and Mohammadjavad Sohrabi, 21 from Iran. They won with 2-3 games, and have now gone to round 32 of the Doubles segment.

In the Singles round, Benyamin Faraji beat the China's Chuqin Wang, who is first on World Ranking amongst male players. Wang was also part of winning the gold medal in the mixed doubles event at this year's Olympics.

Munsif and Shaffan took the lead well into the game, ending with a win. the first two sets were won by Faraji and Sohrabi with 14-12 and 7-11.

The other three sets were won by Maldives will 9-11, 7-11, and 7-11.

Rafa and Dheema

In the women's division, Fathimath Dheema Ali and Aishath Rafa Nazim have also made it to Round 32. They defeated Mongolia's Baljinnyam Uvgunburged and Egshiglen Bat-erdene with 1-3 games.

First two sets were won with 9-11 and 7-11. The third set was lost with 9-11. However, Dheema and Rafa went on to win the final set with 7-11.

In the men's doubles event, Akhyar Ahmed Khalid and Zeek Hassan Latheef's pair faced defeat.

In round 32 of the women's event, Maldives' Mishka Mohamed Ibrahim and Laisa Fathuhulla will also be playing.
