The Supreme Court on Thursday, issued a stay order on the Judicial Service Commission's decision to suspend Supreme Court Judge Abdulla Didi, and to refrain from taking further action.
At a news conference held on Wednesday, JSC Director Hassan Zaheen stated that they decided to suspend Judge Abdulla Didi due to his ongoing police investigation, which Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed had also reported.
Nasheed informed JSC that USD 1 million was transferred to the bank account of Didi’s wife. Judge Didi had countered that all assets in any accounts related to him would be legitimate.
Supreme Court's Judge Abdulla Didi was appointed to the position last year after two slots freed up. He was the former Chief Judge at the High Court and a former Criminal Court Judge.
