National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has said that they received 400 calls for assistance due to flooding in yesterday's heavy rains. Of these, residents of 35 houses most affected were taken into temporary shelter.
NDMA said that the calls included appeals to stack sandbags at entryways and other requests.
Rapid assessments were done following the calls, after which residents of 35 houses were transferred to temporary shelter and were being provided assistance. They said that efforts are ongoing to provide them with the necessary help.
Yesterday's incessant rains caused major loss to public property, with the roads flooding and floodwater entering houses and shops.
Businesses were forced to shut down for the day, and elevators in some houses were flood damaged. Most restaurants and cafe's also stopped their delivery services.
