When the opportunity to pay annual fees and fines in installments was offered, there was a significant issue with large unpaid fines.
During the last presidential election, then-President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih pardoned all parking sticker fines for five years. The pardon covered parking fines from November 17, 2018 to October 5, 2023.
Traffic violation fines were pardoned for those who participated in a specially designed program. This was a 20-hour training program designed by the police to raise awareness about traffic regulations and other social issues.
However, although registration for the program was opened in late September 2023, its current status is unknown.
