The 1,066-square-foot plot was bought in the name of four individuals, including three children of former Vice President Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed. Maleeh and Jameel are close family members.
The Civil Court ruled that the land belongs to Maleeh and Jameel’s children, as the full payment of MVR 8 million had been made to the previous owner.
Maleeh previously served as Communications Minister in the last administration and as Youth Minister in former President Abdulla Yameen’s government. He is currently a senior official of the Yameen-led People's National Front (PNF).
