Ministry of Islamic Affairs has introduced new regulations for Hajj pilgrimages that prioritize new pilgrims and regulate the opportunity for repeat pilgrims.

Under the new regulations, individuals who have already performed Hajj will be allowed to repeat the pilgrimage only after five years.

New pilgrims will be given priority for Hajj, and a specific percentage of the quota will be reserved for individuals over the age of 65 who have not yet performed Hajj.

For individuals aged 75 and above who need assistance due to health conditions, they will be given an opportunity to perform Hajj if they have a family member who has not performed Hajj before.

If no such family member exists, a previous Hajj pilgrim will be allowed to assist them, provided that at least five years have passed since their last pilgrimage.

The existing Hajj waitlist will be updated in accordance with these regulations, with the changes to be implemented before the start of Muharram 1447.

The government is also working to increase the Hajj quota to accommodate those who have been waiting for a long time to fulfill the obligatory Hajj.

Currently, there are 9,115 people on the Hajj waitlist, with 8,623 new pilgrims and 492 repeat pilgrims. The majority of the waitlist consists of new pilgrims under the age of 65, followed by individuals aged 65-75 and those over 75.

The government has also decided that only state-owned companies will be allocated the Hajj quota.
