Broadcasting Commission member Mohamed Abdullah (Mohamma) was ordered by Civil Court on Thursday to pay a monthly instalment of MVR 83,000 to Bank of Maldives after he was sued by the bank for non-payment of a loan.

The bank asked for MVR 83,000 as a minimum monthly payment for the total MVR 5.2 million loan which was not repaid by 4th February, along with incurring interests. He was also asked to finish repaying the loan by May 31, 2036.

Although the bank requested permission to sell H. Furaathu, the mortgaged property for the loan, Mohamed agreed to pay back the loan. Because of this, the bank agreed to let the repayment continue, and the court ruled as per the agreement.

According to the verdict, Mohamed also asked to allow him to make monthly payments.

The judgment was issued in the absence of both parties.

Mohamed, who was previously the MP for Ihavandhoo constituency, was appointed to the Broadcasting Commission last month.
