Mohamed Fazeel Rasheed has been suspended from his position as Deputy Managing Director of MWSC.
Mohamed Fazeel Rasheed has been suspended from his position as Deputy Managing Director of MWSC following the commencement of a police investigation into his claiming ownership of a landplot in Hulhumale' which the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Infrastructure has said was not awarded to him.
MWSC has said that Fazeel has been stripped of his duties, and suspended from attending office, in order to cooperate with the Police investigation. The suspension was decided on by the company's board of directors.
Fazeel has submitted a letter to HDC seeking permission to build boundary walls on a plot of land, submitting a land registry in which the land was in his name. However, the Housing Ministry stated that he is not amongst the list of land recipients, nor does he meet the requirements. Further, the ministry said that the land has not been allocated to any persons as of yet.
In addition to Fazeel, another individual by the name of Abdul Majeed Mahir also applied for a similar permit. The ministry has said that he, too, is not on the list of recipients.
