Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture has leased the islands of Gemendhoo and Dhakandhoo in Baa Atoll under the 'Varuvaa' scheme, which leases islands for agricultural purposes.

The islands were leased to Ibrahim Raamee of Hinnavaru, Lhaviyani Atoll, on October 4.

Dhakandhoo, which measures 6.50 hectares, and Gemendhoo, which measures 1.18 hectares, were put up for bid under 'Varuvaa' respectively on March 20 and April 20.

The government also announced several islands up for bid earlier this year.
