Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has issued an Orange Warning from Baa Atoll to Dhaalu Atoll, including Male’ City, for torrential rain and thunderstorms with flooding expected from midnight until 3 am.
Police have advised against driving heavy vehicles in Male’ City until flooding is controlled and road conditions return to normal.
Continuous rainfall since this afternoon has caused significant flooding in various parts of Male' City. MNDF personnel are actively working to manage the situation, placing sandbags in flood-prone areas and assisting with water drainage.
Authorities have reported that heavy rains have led to water seeping into some houses.
As a precaution, MNDF has urged people to avoid using four-wheeled vehicles unless absolutely necessary.

A Yellow Alert was previously issued for Kaafu Atoll to Meemu Atoll for torrential rain and winds up to 45 mph until 1 am.
The MET's alert system includes White Alert, Yellow Advisory, Orange Warning, and Red Warning. The Orange Warning, which is alert level 3, is issued following 90 mm of rainfall in one hour or 120 mm of rainfall in six hours accompanied by heavy rain and flooding hazards.
The government has taken precautionary measures to address potential challenges caused by the rain.
President’s Office Spokesperson Heena Waleed stated on X that relevant agencies are working together to drain floodwaters and place sandbags in affected areas.
She assured that all necessary government bodies are coordinating efforts to assist the public and closely monitor the situation.
