Embassy of China in the Maldives has provided financial assistance to 32 students pursuing higher education in the Maldives under the 'Chinese Ambassador Bursary' program.

In an ceremony held on Tuesday, the aid was granted to 32 students studying at the Maldives National University and Islamic University of Maldives.

Through the program, each student was granted MVR 10,000.

In the ceremony held to hand over the aid, Chinese Ambassador to Maldives Wang Lixin stated that the aid is being provided to encourage students to focus more on their studies and increase their skills.

She emphasized the important role of youth in a community, stating that a nation's future rests in the hands of its youth.

She highlighted the close relations between China and Maldives, and welcomed Maldivians to study on scholarships in China as well.

The embassy also provided aid to 10 students of MNU last year.
