Deadline for Nautilus Foundation scholarship applications next month

Deadlines to apply for scholarships announced by the Nautilus Foundation are set for next month, the foundation said today.

Scholarships are currently available in four areas:

- Medicine

Nautilus said that the Medical Specialisation Scholarship aims to address the urgent need for advanced healthcare services by providing opportunities for medical professionals to pursue specialised training. After completing this programme, the recipient would be required to serve at least one year at a medical facility in Maldives, outside the Malé region.

The scholarship is offered to study in either Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Nepal, Thailand, Bangladesh, India or Sri Lanka.

- Aircraft Engineering

Nautilus said the Aircraft Maintenance Licence Programme – EASA Part 66 scholarship offers comprehensive training to certify students as aircraft maintenance engineers, maintaining the highest safety and operational standards in this vital industry. Students would have to submit an eligibility letter from the institution along with their application.

- Journalism

The foundation believes that The Mass Communications Undergraduate Degree Scholarship would empower future journalists and media professionals, strengthening the foundation of a transparent and informed Maldivian society.

The scholarship is offered to study in either Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Nepal, Thailand, Bangladesh, India or Sri Lanka.

- Commercial Cookery

According to Nautilus, the Certificate III in Commercial Cookery scholarship is tailored for aspiring culinary professionals eager to elevate the Maldivian hospitality industry, enhancing both local and international culinary standards.

Recipients of all the scholarships would have to serve a minimum of three years in the Maldives.

Throughout their study, Nautilus will provide all tuition fees, return tickets to the country of study, medical insurance, visa fees and monthly stipends.

Eligibility criteria

- The applicant must be a Maldivian citizen.

- The study programme must be offered by a university in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal, the Philippines, Bangladesh, India, or Sri Lanka.

- The applicant must successfully pass the selection interview.

- The study programme should not be ongoing or have commenced at the time of the scholarship application.

- The applicant should not be on paid leave or receiving any other scholarship.

- The applicant must not have previously received a scholarship from The Nautilus Foundation.

- The applicant must have obtained a letter confirming university placement and be able to meet the admission requirements of the institution where the scholarship will be undertaken.

- A minimum score of 7 on the IELTS exam is required.
