Maldives will participate in the first international cricket tournament held in Bhutan, competing alongside Bhutan, Thailand, and Indonesia in a quadrangular tournament at Bhutan's newly opened international cricket stadium.

The Gelephu International Cricket Ground, developed with the support of the International Cricket Council and the Asian Cricket Council, hosted its first tournament in February.

Maldives will play their first match against Indonesia on Saturday afternoon, followed by matches against Bhutan on Sunday morning and Thailand on Tuesday morning.

The quarter-finals are scheduled for Wednesday, with the third qualifying match on Thursday. The final will be held on Friday, October 25.

Maldives T20 national team is captained by Yoosuf Azyan Farhath, with Adam Naseef Umar as vice-captain. The squad also includes Leem Shafeeq, Mohamed Miuwaan Shifau, Mabsar Abdulla Ibrahim, Ahmed Ameel Mauroof, Ismail Ali, Hassan Ibrahim, Ibrahim Shauf Hassan, Ibrahim Rizan, Azzam Mohamed, Ibrahim Nashaath, and Hassan Hazig Rasheed.

The Maldives coaching team includes Ismail Nihadh and Ahmed Neesham Nasir.

Bhutan first played international cricket in 2003, debuting against the Maldives in the Emerging Nations Cup, a match won easily by the Maldives.

Neesham Nasir took three wickets in four overs. Bhutan made their Twenty20 international debut at the 2019 South Asian Games in Nepal, where the Maldives beat them by eight wickets.

The two teams last faced off in February during the ACC Twenty20 Challenge Cup and a Quadrangular tournament in Thailand, where the Maldives won both matches in the league stages.
