Visiting the island of Molhadhoo in Haa Alif atoll, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu assured residents that development projects on that island are equally as important to him as that on islands with larger populations.
He stated that the needs of the people of Molhadhoo will be addressed promptly, like any other island, as development will be brought to all islands regardless of its size or the size of its populace.
President Muizzu highlighted that Molhadhoo has promising prospects in tourism, pledging that water, electricity and sewerage services will be provided for areas the island's council designates for tourism projects through restarting previously stalled efforts.
He further assured that the educational facilities in the island will be improved, alongside health care services, both of which will be provided funding within the year's budget.
He announced plans for a fitness and recreation centre on the island, and shared plans to develop futsal grounds and volleyball courts.
RTL ferry services will also be soon commenced to the island, he said.
Addressing housing concerns, President Muizzu urged the island's council to expedite efforts to allocate land for those in need of housing from the substantial land area remaining unused on the island.
