Deputy Sports Minister Shifaz has been suspended by President Muizzu for breaching the Code of Ethics for Political Appointees. The cause which led to his suspension remain unclear thus far.
Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation, Hussain Shifaz, has been suspended from his position for violating the Code of Ethics for Political Appointees.
Speaking on the matter, Ismail Azmeen from the Ministry's Public Relations stated that Shifaz has been placed under an indefinite suspension by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu from today.
The action that violated the code and the details of his pay following suspension, however, remain unclear.
Shifaz was appointed to the position of Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Sports on November 24 last year.
Three Deputy Ministers of the Ministry of Youth, Malsha Shareef, Mariyam Shiuna, and Abdulla Mahzoon Maajid, had also been suspended following derogatory comments aimed at India and their Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on the social platform, X, in early January. They remain under paid suspension to date.
