The GeneXpert is a small machine which identifies TB on a molecular level. It was developed in the United States by 'Cepheid' and the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND). The main advantage of the machine is its efficiency to provide swift results. Additionally, the machine tests for resistance to Rifampicin, an antibiotic used to treat TB.
