Staff, guests at Vakkaru Maldives discuss ways to tackle environment issues

The Stand Up for Our Seas Team spent the third day of their journey across Baa Atoll engaging with staff and guests at Vakkaru Maldives on the ways they could all contribute to the preservation of the environment.

Stand Up for Our Seas team paddled to Vakkaru Maldives on Friday, where the team conducted a presentation for the staff and guests at the luxury resort located in Baa Atoll.

The interactive session centred on conveying the message that each individual, organisation, company and government could make a contribution to the environment at their respective levels.

Stand Up for Our Seas team noted that the audience responded enthusiastically to the topics discussed throughout the presentation.

In addition to the use of paper straws in the welcome drinks provided by the resort, as opposed to the more wasteful nonbiodegradable plastic versions, the environmentalists were pleased to note that the presence of a desalination plant on the island thus eliminating the need for plastic water bottles

Afterwards, the team headed to Mendhoo, an uninhabited island in Baa Atoll, for the next leg of their journey.
