Marriott International has completed its second India Roadshow, bringing representatives from its Maldives portfolio to Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Delhi for a series of engagements with key media and travel partners.
The roadshow focused on how the Maldives is adapting to the evolving preferences of Indian travellers, with leaders from Marriott's resorts sharing insights on emerging travel trends and outlining adjustments to their offerings.
More than 250 travel trade partners and 35 media professionals attended the sessions, which also highlighted Marriott's strengthened presence in India through a newly established four-member in-market sales team.
"India remains one of the most important source markets for our Maldives portfolio, and this year's engagements across Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Delhi provided valuable opportunities to better understand the evolving preferences of Indian travellers. From multigenerational holidays and diverse culinary requirements, our diverse portfolio offers something for every type of traveller," said Silvio Rosenberger, Market VP - Maldives and Vice President of Operations, Asia Pacific excluding China at Marriott International.
"To sustain this momentum, we remain committed to strengthening long-term partnerships with our travel trade and media partners. Through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and a shared vision for growth, we can create greater value, expand opportunities, and grow the business together, while showcasing the Maldives as a destination that continues to inspire and connect with Indian travellers."
Discussions underscored the growing diversity of Indian travellers choosing the Maldives, supported by nearly 50 direct flight connections, short travel times and visa-free entry. Beyond couples and honeymooners, the destination is seeing increased demand from families, multigenerational groups, wellness travellers and those seeking unique experiences, Marriott noted.
Marriott International stressed rising interest in family-friendly stays, with its Maldives portfolio offering multi-bedroom villas, children's activities, wellness programmes, and a wide range of experiences on land and at sea.
Culinary preferences were another key topic, with Indian travellers increasingly seeking vegetarian, vegan and Jain options. Marriott's resorts in the Maldives have expanded their dining offerings to cater to these requirements while maintaining authenticity and variety.
