Shuhadh sent in his resignation letter yesterday, Mihaaru News reports. The letter, addressed to MMA Governor Ahmed Munawwar states that there are concerning risks in the proposal to purchase land to establish a financial center. It said that Shuhadh had appealed to the Governor and the Board to recall the decision.
Although Shuhadh and two other members of the Board have appealed to review the decision on a financial center, no response has been received to this as of yet, the letter said. Shuhadh wrote that he does not wish to remain on the Board while the matter proceeds as such.
Shuhadh is the representative of the Economic Ministry on MMA's Board.
MMA has not commented on the matter so far.
MMA has meanwhile begun efforts to purchase land from Hulhumale' to increase revenue for the government. In addition to Shuhadh, Finance Ministry's representative on the MMA Board Ahmed Zayan Mohamed has also submitted his resignation from his post as Economist at the ministry. While he has given two months notice, he remains on the MMA Board for now.
