Maldives government has today signed an agreement with India on conducting development projects in various islands.
The agreement, titled 'High Impact Community Development Projects', was signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel and India's Minister of External Affairs Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
Projects which directly benefit citizens will be conducted under the agreement, signed during Minister Khaleel's ongoing official visit to India. This is the third phase of this agreement, with many projects having previously been conducted in several islands by India under similar agreements.
Minister Khaleel, on his first official visit to India after his appointment, met with Minister Jaishankar earlier today.
The two ministers discussed ongoing projects being conducted under India's grants and line of credit. Minister Khaleel expressed appreciation for India's continued support, especially in overcoming the financial difficulties currently faced by the Maldives, and highlighted a wish to continue maintaining strong ties between the countries.
