The Judicial Service Commission's (JSC) yearly statistics have revealed that several of the complaints filed against judges were dismissed as they were disciplinary issues that required no further investigation.

The commission received 393 complaints last year, of which it found 87 percent to lack admissibility. Only seven percent of the complaints required further investigation; meanwhile, the commission is looking into the details of another eight percent of complaints.

Including the cases from 2021, the commission investigated a total of 70 cases last year. JSC closed 46 cases, out of which 22 were adequately proven. Based on the proven cases, the commission requested the Maldivian parliament terminate four judges.

In nine cases, JSC decided that the parties involved required additional training, and three cases concluded with suspensions.
