The Red Sea Project is set to become the world's most ambitious regenerative tourism project, offering cultured global travelers an exclusive experience of unsurpassed diversity. An archipelago of more than 90 virgin islands, miles of vast desert, and magnificent mountain scenery make up the property.

The destination's diverse islands and coastline, as well as rare possibilities to appreciate culture and the natural world, will set new standards in luxury travel and place Saudi Arabia on the worldwide tourism map.

The Red Sea Project will inspire visitors to enjoy the wonders and rich cultural history of Saudi Arabia's Red Sea Coast by providing a varied assortment of seamless tailored experiences.

The project, in particular, will reduce carbon dioxide emissions, garbage generation, and light and noise pollution, bringing the destination closer to that of a Marine Protected Area.

The destination will open 16 hotels and 3,000 rooms in its first phase between this year and 2023. The Red Sea Project will feature its own water bottling plant and a renewable energy plant, with the goal of running the entire resort on renewable energy. The multibillion-dollar complex is one of the core initiatives of Saudi Vision 2030, a country-wide economic diversification initiative aimed at weaning the country from oil.

The Red Sea Development Company was founded in 2018 as a closed joint stock company wholly owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund to help develop The Red Sea Project, a regenerative tourism destination on the country's west coast and one of three giga-projects announced by HRH Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud in 2017.
