Vital Registration Office of Male' City Council has been temporarily relocated to Hulhumalé following the fire that broke out in the building housing three key government ministries.
The Vital Registration Office oversees birth and death registrations, as well as records of residence and land ownership. These services have now been transferred to the council office in Hulhumale', located on the ground floor of Amin Avenue Maple.

Deputy Mayor Ahmed Nareesh, who was present at the scene, said birth certificate can be recovered even if lost in a fire, but there is no way to retrieve the registry of a house or land if it is destroyed
The fire broke out at Maafannu Green Building, which houses the Housing Ministry, Environment Ministry, Construction and Infrastructure Ministry, and a Male' City Council office. The fire was brought under control four hours after it began.
