Parliament Secretariat has announced that the sitting will be held at 9 am on Thursday morning.
On agenda for this sitting is the forwarding of names for the posts of Human Rights Commission of Maldives' Vice President and Anti Corruption Comission's two members to the committee, and to vote on parliamentary approval for the changes brought to the Cabinet of Ministers.
Voting will also be conducted on the committee decisions regarding appointments to the Elections Commission and Broadcasting Commission.
These extraordinary sittings are being held to appoint members to independent commissions before the 60 day deadline stipulated in law is reached.
The second extraordinary meeting is scheduled for January 20.
After a three month recess, parliament will commence its new session on February 6, when President Dr Mohamed Muizzu is scheduled to deliver this year's Presidential Address.
