Services provided by the Vital Registration Office of Male' City Council have been temporarily suspended following last Thursday’s fire at the Maafannu Green Building. However, the council has announced that services will resume in Male' starting next week.
The office, which manages important documents of Male' residents, including birth certificates, was operating from the building affected by the fire.
Maafannu Green Building also housed Housing Ministry, Construction Ministry, and Environment Ministry. The building was extensively damaged and rendered unusable.
The council relocated Vital Registration services to its office on the first floor of Amin Avenue in Hulhumale' on Thursday. Efforts are now underway to resume these services in Male' this week. However, the council has not yet announced the new location.

Some documents were lost or severely damaged in the fire, and council staff are working to recover and preserve them. Salvaged items are being securely stored, and wet documents are being dried to prevent further damage.
The fire, which broke out at 6:30 am on Thursday, was extinguished four hours later. The extent of the damage, including the number of documents destroyed, is still being assessed.
The three ministries previously housed in the building have temporarily relocated to Dharubaaruge and began operating from there on Sunday.
