The government has launched the "Roadha Hadhiyaa" portal to facilitate the easy collection of free tuna can cases in Malé City ahead of Ramadan.

The move comes in response to public outcry over long queues in Malé, Hulhumalé, and Villimalé, where people had to wait for hours to collect their share of fish cans on Thursday night.

Following the complaints, the government introduced a token system to ease the process.

Local Government Minister Adam Shareef, who is overseeing the distribution, announced that the portal will begin issuing tokens from 6 pm today.

Tokens will be distributed through the "Roadha Hadhiyaa" portal, with different centers issuing varying numbers of tokens each night.

The government said those going to collect the tuna can cases will be required to bring one month's electricity bill and their ID cards. A maximum of three cases would be issued per person, which is one case per electricity metre, the Ministry said.

The ministry said it would continue until all households are provided with fish can. They also said that those who face difficulties in using mobile phones to access the online systems would be able to receive their cans without any difficulty as well.
