Lhaviyani atoll Naifaru Hospital has begun providing dialysis services on Sunday.

The Dialysis Center developed with the assistance of Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) can provide dialysis support for three patients at the same time. The centre with state-of-the-art equipment includes beds for patients seeking treatment for kidney diseases and an isolation room.

There are 11 people in need of regular dialysis services in the Lhaviyani atoll. These patients were residing in Malé due to lack of the service in the atoll.

The government is working to develop dialysis centres across the nation. In November 2022, the service was launched at the Atoll Hospital in Baa atoll Eydhafushi.

While dialysis centres are gradually opening across the atolls, the service has been available in the Greater Malé Area for some time. Additionally, the regional hospitals in Haa Dhaalu atoll Kulhudhuffushi, Raa atoll Ungoofaaru, Laamu atoll Gan, Gnaviyani atoll Fuvahmulah, the Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital at Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Thinadhoo, and Addu Equatorial Hospital at Addu City provide dialysis services.
