Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has said that reclamation of 120 hectares of land from Thilafushi has been completed.
In a statement released by HDC, they stated that reclamation of Area A, Area B, Area E and Area F have been completed to date.
They said currently work is in progress to level the land reclaimed in Area E.
A total of 151 hectares are planned to be reclaimed under Thilafushi Phase 2 project.
The reclamation work on Thilafushi Phase 2 - slated to be Male' Area's Industrial Hub - began in March 2023.
The work is being conducted by China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC), the same company which oversees maintenance of the SinaMale' Bridge. It is a subsidiary company of the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), which was contracted to build the SinaMale' Bridge.
The agreement with CHEC was signed on December 15, 2022. The agreement requires the work to be completed within a period of two years.
CHEC is also contracted to connect the Male' and Hulhumale' water supply services through the bridge.
