President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu assured Maldivian last night that no agreement made with India during his ongoing state visit to the country jeopardises the Maldives sovereignty in any way.

The President's statement was made at a special event held in Bangalore where he met Maldivians living in the city.

He said that the 'Vision for Comprehensive Partnership on Economic and Maritime Security/ announced during his visit to India at the invitation of India's President Droupadi Murmu is a document that is available to everyone.

"[It] is visible, clearly written out. Every sentence written about the defense sector has been reviewed by the MNDF and approved by the Ministry of Defence. Everything written in it is in accordance with our policies. There won't be aspects in it like before," President Muizzu said about the Vision Document signed between India and Maldives, which is published on the President's Office website.

"It mentioned building our capacity. It doesn't mention us leaving things in the hands of others. It mentions us doing everything to build our capacity and prosperity," he said, referring to the vision document.

He also highlighted that Islam and nationality are the two most important aspects for Maldivians and that the vision document does not contain anything that goes against that.

"This is a very transparent government. This vision document is available. Have a look at it. I urge everyone to look into the truth, transparency and consistency of these matters of foreign policy from the day of announcement until today," the President said.

"Not to worry about what others say, because the truth is clear."
