A person was injured in a fire that broke out on a speedboat docked at Thinadhoo, Vaavu Atoll, on Tuesday morning.
According to the police, the incident, which was reported 0749 hrs, occurred when the speedboat's battery caught ablaze upon ignition.
One individual on board suffered burns on their leg.
The speedboat was damaged beyond use and later sank into the lagoon, added the police.
The police stated they were looking further into the incident but did not disclose additional information.
