Maldives Stock Exchange (MSE) has officially launched its first online automated trading system for listed securities, today.

The system was launched on the occasion of MSE’s 17th anniversary.

The new system enables companies registered on the securities market to send investor orders live to the stock exchange. It includes a broker back-office web application called "Order Management System" (OMS), which allows instant transmission of orders to the trading board. This automated system enhances efficiency and facilitates real-time matching of trades.

Alongside this, Maldives Securities Depository Company (MSD) introduced a feature called "Trade Connect" on infinity.mv website. This new tool simplifies online trading by allowing Infinity account holders to select brokers and trade securities seamlessly. Investors can log in to Infinity, access the "Trade Connect" tab, and submit trade requests to brokers, who will verify and process these transactions in real-time.

MSE stated that the internal development of the automated trading system has been completed, and it had been running in beta with limited users since June. Capital Market Development Authority (CMDA) granted regulatory approval for the system, paving the way for its official launch.

The automated trading system is designed to make trading more accessible and efficient for investors. With features like real-time market information, price updates, and access to order book details, Trade Connect promotes greater transparency and helps investors make informed decisions. The system also incorporates advanced technology, including APIs, to enable brokers to integrate their service applications easily, supporting future expansion of broker services.

MSE has previously introduced several innovative services to the market, such as:

- Infinity: a self-service portal for investors to access market services

- Fahivote: an electronic AGM management and e-voting system to enhance shareholder register management

- Securities Registry Management System (SRMS): for efficient registry management

- Viyana, a private market platform developed as part of MSE’s product offerings

MSE, registered as a private stock exchange under the Financial Securities Act of Maldives, was licensed by the CMDA on January 23, 2008.
