Election Commission (EC) has changed their initial decision of placing the voter's mark from middle finger of the left hand to the ring finger of the same hand, on Thursday evening.
The mark of voting was put on the index finger of the left hand in the first round of the election, held on September 9. Therefore, EC had announced earlier today that the voter's mark for the second round would be placed on the middle finger of the same hand.
EC changed their decision amongst public criticism towards their earlier decision, and announced they would not be marking the middle finger as previously announced, but rather on the ring finger now.
As the mark is put with ink that takes time to fade over, the placement finger is changed if two elections are held close together.
The second round of voting will be held from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
In the second round, 586 ballot boxes will be set up and 282,804 voters are eligible to cast their votes, these include 138,394 women and 144,410 men. This time, the list has 408 more voters than during the first round.
Ballot boxes are kept abroad in five countries for the presidential election this year, including India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, UAE and the UK.
