President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has expressed his vision to make the Maldives Police Service the most trusted law enforcement institution in the region.
In his address marking the 92nd anniversary of the Maldives Police Service on March 29, President Muizzu highlighted the capabilities of the police force, noting that it comprises highly educated individuals skilled in various fields beneficial to the nation.
He said that the police service would continue to grow as a diverse and well-equipped institution.
President Muizzu acknowledged the importance of continuous learning and practical experience in keeping up with evolving challenges. He expressed his ambition for the police service to become a modern, reliable, and compassionate institution by the time it reaches its 100th anniversary in eight years.
Recognizing the police force’s role in ensuring public safety, he highlighted their duty to protect families, uphold laws in public spaces, and maintain social harmony.
President Muizzu commended officers for their dedication, sacrifices, and resilience in safeguarding lives and property, even in challenging circumstances.
President Muizzu also emphasized the need for community engagement, urging police officers to enhance public awareness and guide citizens toward lawful and responsible conduct.
He asked the officers to uphold their oath with integrity, remain committed to religious values, and provide a service that instills national pride.
He further highlighted the support of police officers’ families, recognizing their role in enabling officers to perform their duties without hesitation, regardless of the risks they face.
