In response to a Right to Information request submitted by the media, the Construction Ministry shared details of the project. Based on this, USD 251,563,940 (MVR 3.8 billion), not including GST, has been spent on the Thilamale' Project as of now.
MVR 3.8 billion has been spent to date on the Thilamale' Bridge project, Mihaaru News reports.
In response to a Right to Information request submitted by the media, the Construction Ministry shared details of the project. Based on this, USD 251,563,940 (MVR 3.8 billion), not including GST, has been spent on the Thilamale' Project as of now.
The project, in full, costs USD 500 million (MvR 7.7 billion). The project is being conducted with USD 400 million extend as line of credit from India's EXIM Bank and USD 100 million granted as free aid from the Indian government.
The ministry said that as of the end of January, 51 percent of the bridge has been completed. The project is expected to reach completion by September 30, 2026.
The bridge is being built in two sections, with Section A connecting Male' to Gulhifalhu, and Section B connecting Gulhifalhu to Thilafushi.
