Shri G. Balasubramanian will be the next Indian High Commissioner to Maldives.
The government of India has appointed Shri G. Balasubramanian, who is currently serving as the High Commissioner of India to Nigeria as the next High Commissioner of India to the Maldives.
According to a statement issued by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, he is expected to take up the assignment shortly. However, a date was not confirmed.
The current Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives is Munu Mahawar, who took office in November 2021. His term will end this month.
Balasubramanian has been working in the Indian diplomatic scene since 1998.
He has also served as Deputy Chief of the Indian Mission in Moscow and Bangkok. Balasubramanian is also India's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.
As both Maldives and India work to mend and strengthen mutual relations, the two countries are working together on multiple projects in the Maldives.
