Statistics published by MIRA show that last year, MVR 23 billion was received as taxes, and MVR 5 billion in other revenue.
From taxes, the highest revenue was from GST, which comes to MVR 14.4 billion. Of this, MVR 9.5 billion was TGST. MVR 5.9 billion was received as income tax.
On average, revenue from all taxes was higher last year. MIRA's total revenue was 11 percent higher than the previous year. In 2023, MIRA's revenue was at MVR 25 billion.
In other fees and rent, the highest amount was received as resort rents, marking MVR 1.9 billion. This is a five percent increase from the previous year.
Comparing the months of last year, the highest revenue was recorded in January, with MVR 3.6 billion received. This was due to an increase in income tax, business profit and resort rents received.
The second highest number was seen in March, at MVR 2.94 billion. The third was in July with 2.93 billion. The past eight months saw MIRA receive upwards of MVR 2 billion each. The lowest income in 2024 was in May, with MVR 1.66 billion.
Fifty percent of MIRA's income was in GST, and 21 percent in income tax.
