Two suspects arrested for axe attack in Hulhumale'

Police recovered a weapon, believed to be the axe used in the attack, along with a knife, from the area where the suspects were stopped.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the alleged attack and injury of a man near Rehendhi Turf Stadium in Hulhumale'.

The suspects were attempting to flee to Male' when they were apprehended.

According to police, they received report of the incident at around 11:35 pm. The incident occurred on the west side of the Rehendhi Turf Stadium, located on Boaganvilla Magu in Hulhumale', police said.

The victim was reportedly sitting on a motorcycle when he was assaulted by the two men, who were on a motorcycle. The injured man received treatment at the hospital and was later released.

Reports indicate that the attack was carried out using an axe. Police were able to stop the two suspects, Rusthum Ibrahim, 25, from Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Fiyori, and Saifulla Faisal, 19, from Baa atoll Goidhoo, while they were attempting to flee via the highway to Male'.

Authorities also recovered a weapon, believed to be the axe used in the attack, along with a knife, from the area where the suspects were stopped.

Police are investigating the incident further.

There has been recent spike in violent altercations in Male' City, with another incident involving a man being struck on the head with a hammer near IGMH last week.
