Judicial Services Commission (JSC) has sent an additional case of a similar vein regarding Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi Court Chief Magistrate Ali Adam to the Parliament, seeking his dismissal.

The Majlis has so far not decided on a case previously submitted by JSC where the magistrate is accused of approaching a woman through unsolicited phone calls. The woman had gone to court seeking a divorce in a case the magistrate had presided over.

A statement released by JSC on Thursday stated that they had discovered through investigations another similar case where the magistrate had made phone calls and sent text messages to a different woman who had also gone to court regarding a divorce case. The commission stated that it was once again submitting the case to parliament, seeking the magistrate's dismissal.

Although it did not provide details, the JSC stated that they are also nearing the end of investigation into another case involving the same magistrate.

They expressed concerns on the delays in parliament deciding on the matter.

Regarding the initial case, the Judiciary Committee of the parliament has decided to summon the magistrate and provide him with an opportunity to respond to the allegations. However, this is not the precedent set in previous cases of dismissal involving judges.
