High Court Judge Abdulrauf has resigned from office on Wednesday.

Prior to his resignation, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) had forwarded a request to dismiss him from the position to the parliament.

The request was made over the Male’ High Court judges in the having accepted flats handed over to them by the Housing Ministry in the previous administration.

High Court has confirmed that Rauf has resigned from his position.

The Parliament's Judiciary Committee has questioned some of the procedures followed by JSC, regarding the dismissal of Judge Rauf and Judge Abdulla Hameed. The committee is yet to take a decision on the matter.

Rauf was appointed to the High Court in 2011, and had overseen varaious big cases over his time as a judge in the court over the past decade. Ali Sameer, who was appointed to court then, had recently resigned as well.

Sameer is now working as the Deputy Prosecutor General.
