T-Rex BC defeated Kings BC - who came back this year to defend its championship title - to win the MBA Championship.
The last MBA Championship was held in 2022. That year, Kings defeated T-Rex 81-70 in the final. They won the 2019 tournament 100-58 against the Raptors.
T-Rex won the final match of the 29th MBA Championship played at the Social Center indoor court yesterday, with a score of 62-54 . T-rex held the lead throughout the match and won the championship without losing a single match.
T-Rex's point guard Ismail Wildhan Yoosuf was named the player of the match as well as the player of the tournament. The team's Aik Ahmed Mauroof and Mohamed Naaf Irufan, Kings' Ismail Naseem and Abdullah Amzar Mohamed as well as Raptors BC's Ahmed Raidh were named the top five players of the tournament.
The men's division of the MBA Championship was divided into four groups. There were three teams in each group, with the Raptors, Royals and DBC in Group A. Group B had Kings, Talons and United Network of Friends (UN Friends), while Group C included T-Rex, Stingers and Phoenix. Meanwhile Group D included Redwings, Spartans and Hulhumalé.
UN Friends won the shield match of this year's MBA Championship by beating the Stingers 99-92 yesterday evening. Ahmed Najeel of UN Friends was named the man of the match.
