A foreign vessel has been intercepted while in the Maldivian Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) illegally, in a special operation.
The vessel was seized after being located in the Maldivian EEZ by an Air Corp drone, MNDF said. The vessel has now been taken into custody by the Coast Guard.
However, MNDF did not say which country the ship belonged to or where it was seized.
A foreign ship was seized by a drone for illegally entering Maldivian waters last month as well.
Currently, the drones are headquartered in N. Maafaru. However, the government is also working on establishing military bases in Sh. Funadhoo and Addu City as well.
Military drones were first used in Maldives from March of this year onwards.
